10 Tips to buy from eBay without Losing Your Money

It is easy to buy an item on the largest auction site. We’ve all heard horror story like: I thought I buy a wii cheap but the only thing I got was a picture! Or: I thought I buy a plasma television but I received a stove door!

Here are my personal top 10 tips to help you buy on eBay with confidence. Follow these rules and you’ll minimize the risk!

1 - Check shipping costs. It is very important to check the delivery charges. If they are not indicated, it is important to ask the seller before you bid on the item.

2 - Consider the time of delivery. This detail is important because delays can greatly vary. Do not be surprised to receive your item three weeks after your purchase. So do not buy on eBay if you’re in a hurry.

3 - Check the number of transactions performed by the seller. A high number of transactions indicates that the seller “sells”. If the transaction is high, it is usually a good sign. I am not saying not to buy from small vendors (20 transactions or less) because everyone has to start somewhere. But it is at your own risk!

4 - Check the percentage of positive feedbacks. This percentage should be above 97% personally at the bottom of this, I hesitate to buy … You can view each feedback that the seller received and make your own idea. Ebay has recently changed its feedback system: when the buyer makes its payment, the seller can only give positive feedback, so that the buyer is no longer afraid to receive negative feedback.

5 - Check the payment mode. If you use Paypal, check that the seller accepts this kind of payment.

6 - Read carefully the announcement. Read the announcement from one end to another. Make sure what you want to buy is really what it’s sold. For example, make sure the batteries, cables, instructions are sold with the item you want.

7 - Do not make the mistake of buying a “list”. Sometimes you think you make an excellent transaction, but in fact you buy an list of vendor, not the object. Do not confuse!

8 - Check the price of the item at your place. This is not automatically cheaper at Ebay … We must not forget shopping, Ebay is a big store, that’s all!

9 - Upon receipt of your item, checked it! There are limited times to complain about an object. Know them and respect them.

10 - Do not forget to give your feedback, whether positive or negative. This is the heart of eBay. Each transaction must be evaluated to allow other buyers to form an opinion of the seller before they buy and vice versa!
