Does That Cabana Come With a Cute Pool Boy?

By: Rochelle Steelsen

Southern California, what a great place to live. Even in January, the average high temperature is 68 degrees. Most of the year the weather is perfect for swimming, and swimming pools are common amenities for many homeowners. Those that own a pool often enjoy hosting friends and family for pool time activities. It is a great way to entertain; just invite folks and declare a potluck. Assign someone to bring the ice and drinks, and there you have it: an instant party. Most people that do not have a pool of their own are happy to contribute to the refreshments when you share your pool. Even Grandma and Aunt Betty who do not swim are happy to sit by the pool and help watch the kids if you provide shade and keep the iced tea coming.

However, there is a dark side to being the pool owner/host. You have all those people traipsing through your house, changing clothes in the bathroom or your bedroom. This isn’t so bad on the way out, but don’t you just hate it when the soggy swimmers schlep through your home to change back into their street clothes? Don’t you wish you had a cabana for them to use?

This isn’t as difficult or expensive as it sounds. Think about using a company that makes sheds to fulfill your cabana needs. These are much more than just four walls and a roof. Options abound that would transform a shed into a cool looking cabana. Consider an eight foot by 12 foot shed with a tall peak, windows, an attractive door and the exterior in stucco that matches your home, complete with matching tile roof. What a terrific place to have the crowd change into and out of their swimsuits.

Customized sheds have become so much more than a place to store your rake and lawnmower. People are turning these little gems into playhouses for the kids, creating a home office, and just about any use imaginable. One woman in northern California wanted to add onto her home. She is a distributor of rubber stamp craft items and wanted more room for her demonstrations and workshops. The county quoted her $30,000 just for the permit to add onto her home! That was before any construction costs were factored in. Instead, she had a large shed built with windows and air conditioning. It is very cute, and she is very happy. The “stamp pad” cost a fraction of the cost of just the building permit for a room addition.

Sheds can fill a multitude of needs from a small place to put your lawn tools to a large shed to store a motor home. If a shed can fill your need for extra space, seek out an established company that has a great reputation, a good warranty, and glowing testimonials. You’ll be pleased by the results.

Oh, and that cute pool boy for your cabana, you’ll have to find him on your own. He doesn’t come with the shed.
